About the role
Liontown Resources is inviting applications for an Alternate Underground Manager to join us at our world-class Kathleen Valley lithium operation on a FIFO 8:6 roster out of Perth. Reporting to the Underground Manager, this is a key leadership role in the underground mining team which requires a focus on safety, effective communication, and the building of strong relationships with other team leaders and stakeholders across site.
Key responsibilities include
- Champion a strong safety culture throughout the underground mining team and in all dealings with others across site
- Manage and supervise the operational team in support of the Underground Manager by mentoring team members, fostering positive employee relations and high operational standards.
- Manage contractors working in and around the underground operations by building functional relationships, using effective communication, monitoring performance against plan, preparing end of month financial reporting and contract management.
- Work with department superintendents, including but not limited to safety, geotechnical, geology, survey and processing to meet the Company’s goals.
- Support the Underground Manager in providing statutory supervision of the underground operation when they are offsite.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering as well as a WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
- 7+ years of experience working at underground mining operations. Ideally with experience in operational leadership roles working with or working for underground mining contractors.
- Underground production and planning experience in mechanised underground mines.
- Exceptional communication and people skills, with the ability influence and build strong relationships across all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency in using mining software (Deswik) and other relevant tools for production planning and analysis, particularly excel.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical, National Police Clearance, and Drug and Alcohol screen.
