The opportunity
Reporting to the WHS Systems & Support Lead, the WHS Advisor will be responsible for providing expert advice and support on workplace health and safety (WHS) matters within the mining industry. In this Casual role, you will work from both the West Perth office and our world-class Kathleen Valley lithium operation, collaborating closely with site management and field-based teams to ensure compliance with WHS regulations and promote a culture of safety.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and implement effective WHS policies, procedures, and strategies aligned with industry regulations and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, risk assessments, inspections, and training activities.
- Analyse incident reports and assist in investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Deliver WHS training programs, including to management, supervisors, and employees, to enhance their understanding and compliance with WHS practices.
- Develop training materials, presentations, and resources aligned with industry standards and regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in WHS legislation and industry trends and provide relevant updates and recommendations to management.
What we’re looking for
- Cert IV Work Health & Safety.
- Proven experience working as a WHS Advisor, preferably with mining and processing experience, and maintenance shutdown experience.
- Contract management experience.
- Audit experience/ Lead Auditor skill set.
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, INX, Evotix, and SharePoint.
- WA Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Have obtained a National Police Clearance within the last 6 months, or ability to obtain one.
- Able to pass a Pre-Employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol screen.
- Flexible approach to days/ hours, including nightshift if required.
