Who are we?
Liontown Limited is an emerging leader in Australia’s battery minerals sector. Following our recent capital raise, we are in a strong position as we transition into full production ramp-up at our flagship Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation. With a 20+-year mine life, state-of-the-art processing facilities, and a passionate team, this is a rare opportunity to join a business that is building a globally significant lithium operation.
The opportunity
As we transition to steady-state operations, this is a pivotal time to join our high performing Geology team in this newly created leadership role. You will develop and manage operational initiatives that drive resource optimisation, mine reconciliation, and compliance with JORC Code and corporate governance requirements, establishing and maintaining the geological standards, systems, and practices that underpin reliable data and critical business decisions.
What you’ll be doing
In this newly created role, the Geology Manager will lead the geology function at Liontown’s Kathleen Valley operation, managing a team of geologists and technical staff to deliver accurate resource definition, effective grade control, and geological excellence across the operation. In this full-time, permanent role based on site, you will report directly to the General Manager, on a 4:3 FIFO roster from Perth. There may be the need to work an 8:6 roster on an ad-hoc basis.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Team leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop the geology team across resource, grade control, and project geology functions, providing clear direction, performance feedback, and succession planning.
- Resource definition and drilling programs: Accountable for the budgeting and scheduling of drilling programs to support resource definition, and grade control modelling.
- Grade control and operational geology: Accountable for grade control systems and processes that accurately define ore boundaries, minimise dilution, and optimise mine-to-mill performance.
- Technical standards and data integrity: Establishes and maintains geological standards, procedures, and systems across resource estimation, grade control, sampling protocols, and data management.
- Collaboration and stakeholder engagement: Partnering with technical teams across the operation; advising senior leaders; and managing relationships with external partners.
- Budget, risk and compliance.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in a senior geology role within hard rock mining environment. Underground experience highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a geology team, including resource, grade control, and project geology functions.
- Bachelor of Science (Geology) or equivalent. Postgraduate qualification in Geostatistics, Resource Estimation, or a related discipline is highly regarded.
- Competent Person status under the JORC Code.
- Membership of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) or equivalent professional body.
