About the role

 

Liontown Resources seeks a skilled and passionate Geologist to join our team for an 8|6 swing at Kathleen Valley! Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will become a crucial member of this highly knowledgeable team.

As a Mine Geologist at Liontown Resources, you'll be diving into exciting projects and utilising your expertise in various essential tasks:

 

  • Undertake production duties to facilitate the optimal production and extraction of lithium from open-pit and underground mining operations.
  • Interaction with the mining team & contractors to ensure the accurate sampling, interpretation, communication, and documentation of geological and mining data.
  • Undertake project work as defined by the Senior Mine Geologist to enable the geology team to expand the understanding of ore bodies and their processing characteristics.
  • Ensure that daily ore production data is accurately reported on time.
  • Assist in weekly production planning.
  • Ensure that open pit mapping is accurate and up to date.
  • Supervise OP grade control drilling and assist Pit-Technicians when required with hole delineation and sample collection.
  • Ensure proper and accurate creation of ore blocks before blasting and demarcation of ore after blasting.
  • Liaise with Engineers and Blast Supervisors to determine optimal blasting direction to minimise ore dilution.
  • Developing and implementing grade control drilling programs, including management of drilling contractors and subcontractors
  • Maintain and improve the geological understanding of the deposit through sampling, mapping and structural 3D modelling.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to geology technicians
  • Conduct geological mapping of the ore body in order to facilitate mine planning.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of Geology information; drill hole database, production database, drill cuttings and core samples, stockpile reports and weekly reports.
  • Maintain close woing relationships with the Metallurgical team to understand how ore is presented to the plant and ensure maximum metal recovery.
  • Sampling activities to facilitate geological processes.

  • A BSc in Geology or higher-level qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to safety, quality, and teamwork
  • Proficiency in software applications, including MS Suite, and desirable but not essential: mining-specific software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, & Datashed.
  • A valid manual Western Australian 'C' class driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance and pass a medical.
  • Existing and ongoing permanent work rights in Australia
