Project Engineer
Date: 25 May 2026
Location: Kathleen, Western Australia, Australia
Company: Liontown Resources Limited
Who are we?
Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) is one of Australia's newest and most exciting lithium producers. Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation in Western Australia is a world-class, tier-one asset with a 20+ year mine life — and we're now expanding it.
Early works are underway. A 5.5MW ball mill is on order, underground development of the Northwest Flats orebody is progressing, and we're building the dedicated project team that will deliver the next phase of growth. These are 2-year maximum term roles, created specifically for our expansion plans.
Why join now?
The expansion will progress in stages, and new workfronts will open up as the project develops. That means real opportunity to move between areas — gaining hands-on experience across underground development, surface infrastructure, and processing plant upgrades within a single assignment.
If you want to accelerate your site-based project delivery experience on a live capital programme, working alongside experienced Senior Project Engineers and Project Managers who are invested in developing the team around them, this is the opportunity.
What you'll be doing
- Planning and delivering assigned work packages from scope definition through to execution, commissioning, and close-out
- Developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules aligned to programme controls
- Managing contractor engagement: tendering, evaluation, contract administration, and performance monitoring
- Monitoring project expenditure against approved budgets, tracking forecast costs, and flagging risks and opportunities
- Coordinating with site operations, engineering, and supply chain to ensure integrated delivery
- Maintaining accurate project documentation and providing clear reporting to your Area Manager
- Identifying and managing project risks, maintaining risk registers, and driving mitigation actions
What we are looking for
- Tertiary qualification in engineering — mechanical, civil, electrical, process, mining, or a related discipline (we welcome a broad range of engineering backgrounds and are as interested in attitude and potential as we are in prior experience)
- Proven project engineering experience in mining, minerals processing, or comparable heavy industry
- Demonstrated experience delivering sustaining capital or small-to-mid-scale capital works from scoping through to close-out
- Practical experience in contractor engagement and contract administration
- Experience working on operating sites and coordinating with operational teams during construction activities
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently across diverse project challenges
- A proactive, collaborative approach — someone who takes ownership and brings energy to the team
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) desirable
- Current WA driver's licence and ability to obtain a National Police Clearance and pass a pre-employment medical and D&A screen.
Why Liontown

This role offers something genuinely valuable for your career: breadth across multiple workfronts, mentoring from experienced project engineers and managers, and the hands-on site experience that's hard to replicate elsewhere. Flexible roster options (8:6, 2:1, or 2:2) and competitive remuneration reflect how much we value the people who make the work happen.
