Senior Engineer - Communications
Date: 3 Nov 2026
Location: Kathleen, Western Australia, Australia
Company: Liontown Resources Limited
Who are we?
Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) is one of Australia's newest lithium producers. Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation in Western Australia is a tier-one asset with a 20+ year mine life, and we are now delivering a significant staged expansion.
Early works have commenced, underground development of the Northwest Flats orebody is progressing, and a dedicated project team is being assembled to deliver the next phase of Liontown's growth. As this expansion progresses, our sitewide communications and process control systems (Comms/PCS) need to keep pace, and we are looking for an experienced engineer to own that piece of work end to end.
Why join now?
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a complete body of work, from initial scoping through to business case, approval, implementation and handover, on a live, fast-moving capital programme. You will be the single point of contact for Comms and PCS requirements across the site, working closely with the Mining, Concentrator and Process (MCP) team and all site departments, as well as Liontown's IT/OT personnel and specialist consultants.
This is an 18-month assignment, with the right person potentially being absorbed into the broader project team beyond that as the expansion continues.
What you'll be doing
• Working with all departments and the MCP team to define current and future communications, access and IT requirements, ensuring requests allow for future site needs
• Acting as the single point of contact and gatekeeper for scope, ensuring requests are packaged in a logical and efficient manner
• Preparing scoping and client requirement documentation (Liontown operations being the client) to outline expectations across the site
• Receiving, defining and reviewing requests, and seeking approval for them
• Packaging requests into detailed scopes for external suppliers to price and execute
• Managing delivery of the work end to end, from business case through to implementation and handover
Some of the workstreams you would be involved in include:
• CCTV and access control coverage, including the camp and gym, the contractor facilities, the underground mine services area (MSA), the NPI facility LV workshop and waste facility, the underground north west flats (NWF), and the process plant rock breaker relocation
• Telemetry, including tailings storage facility (TSF) decant pumps, raw water pond pumps, the Mt McClure extension, the underground dewatering pond, and the borefield
• Communications, including project facilities, process plant expansion upgrades, underground main vent fans, MSA scope including building relocations, the underground network, underground mine portals, and the overhead powerline (OHPL) to the NPI facility, LV workshop and waste facility
What we are looking for
• Extensive experience in communications and process control systems (Comms/PCS), gained in a mining, minerals processing or comparable heavy industry environment
• A proven track record managing projects end to end: scoping, business case development, approvals, implementation and handover
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across multiple departments and act as a single point of contact for competing requirements
• Experience preparing scoping and client requirement documentation, and packaging scopes of work for external suppliers to price and execute
• The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and make decisions on scope and priority
• Tertiary qualification in engineering, or equivalent experience in a Comms/PCS or OT/IT delivery role
• Willingness to travel to site on a regular basis, with a transition to a site-based roster, or extended periods on site, once significant OT/IT site activities commence
• Current Australian driver's licence and ability to satisfy standard WA mine site induction, ticketing and medical requirements
