Location: Kathleen, Western Australia, Australia

Company: Liontown Resources Limited

Who are we?

Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) is one of Australia's newest and most exciting lithium producers. Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation in Western Australia is a world-class, tier-one asset with a 20+ year mine life — and we're now scaling underground production while planning the next phase of the operation's long-term future. With our state-of-the-art processing facilities and a passionate team, we are set to become one of the world’s largest and most sustainable hard rock lithium operations.

Our operations are designed with sustainability at their core — powered by renewables and built for long-term impact.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Underground Technical Services team, site-based at Kathleen Valley on an 8:6 FIFO roster. This is a senior role offering genuine technical ownership and the opportunity to lead and mentor within a growing, high-performing team.

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the geotechnical stability, safety, and efficiency of our underground operation. You will lead geotechnical risk management, drive ground control standards, and provide expert input into mine planning and design during a critical phase of our operation.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead operational geotechnical risk management, production support and hazard reporting across the underground operation.
  • Own the implementation and ongoing management of ground control standards for underground workings.
  • Oversee geotechnical monitoring systems — from design and implementation through to analysis and reporting.
  • Conduct rockmass mapping, structural model reconciliation and maintain geotechnical databases.
  • Undertake slope stability and numerical modelling using tools such as FLAC3D, Map3D, Deswik or similar.
  • Provide geotechnical input into short and medium-term mine planning, development standards and ground support design.
  • Drive design performance reviews and compliance reporting.
  • Support and co-ordinate geotechnical drilling programs including drill hole design and data management.
  • Deliver geotechnical awareness training across site.
  • Mentor and support junior geotechnical engineers within the team.
  • Contribute to strategic and annual planning processes.
  • Ensure robust data management systems are in place for geotechnical information.

What We’re Looking For

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant underground hard rock mining exposure.
  • Proven track record in geotechnical risk management, ground control design and geotechnical monitoring.
  • Strong competency in numerical modelling and geotechnical software (FLAC3D, Map3D, Deswik or similar).
  • Experience in geological modelling, database management and structural analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • A proactive, safety-first mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • National Police Clearance obtained within the last 6 months, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
  • C Class driver’s licence.

Why Liontown?

At Liontown, you’ll be joining a company at the forefront of Australia’s clean energy future. This is a rare opportunity to take senior technical ownership of a world-class underground operation, with the scope to shape geotechnical practice from the ground up at one of the largest hard rock lithium operations in the world.

We offer:

  • A long-term, stable career with a fully-funded, production-stage operation.
  • A genuine leadership role with mentoring responsibilities and a clear pathway for further progression.
  • A collaborative, values-driven team culture where safety and sustainability are non-negotiable.
  • Competitive remuneration package reflective of your experience.
