About the role
Our mining team is seeking applications for an Underground Senior Mine Planning Engineer at our Kathleen Valley lithium operation. This will be a site based permanent opportunity working an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
As a Senior Mine Planning Engineer, you'll be pivotal in coordinating and implementing the planning, design, and scheduling of underground mining activities. Collaborating with a team of experts, including geologists and mining engineers, you'll ensure the safe and efficient extraction of mineral resources.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Mine Planning Engineer will be responsible for:
- Contribute to the development and optimisation of mine plans for underground operations, considering geological, geotechnical, and safety parameters. Utilise advanced Deswik mine planning software to generate designs for both development and stoping processes.
- Partner with the Principal Mining Engineer to aid in crafting Life of Mine and Quarterly schedules to maximise ore recovery and align with corporate targets. Continuously monitor and adapt schedules according to operational requirements and any fluctuations in resource estimates.
- Work closely with Ventilation Engineers to meticulously design and optimise ventilation systems, guaranteeing a secure working environment within underground mines. Additionally, partner with Geotechnical Engineers to address potential geotechnical challenges in all designs, ensuring utmost stability throughout operations.
- Strategise and engineer underground infrastructure, encompassing raises, declines, and haulage systems. Streamline the layout of mining equipment to enhance the extraction of mineral resources with maximum efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with geologists, geotechnical engineers, and relevant stakeholders to incorporate mine planning considerations effectively.
About you
- 7+ years experience in underground mining engineering roles with a strong focus on mine planning and design.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of mine engineering principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Have obtained a National Police Clearance within the last 6 months or have the ability to obtain one.
- Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screen.
