About the role

 

This is a full-time, permanent role, based on site at Kathleen Valley, flying from Perth on an 8:6 roster. Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, the Senior Ventilation Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of the mine’s ventilation systems. This role ensures that all aspects of ventilation meet regulatory, safety, and operational requirements while supporting future mine development and expansion. The position works closely with mine planning, geotechnical, health and safety, and operational teams to deliver effective and sustainable ventilation solutions across the site. 

 

The Senior Ventilation Engineer will also hold the statutory appointment as Underground Ventilation Officer under Schedule 26 of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022. This is an exciting opportunity to join our high performing Mine Operations team, as we continue through full production ramp-up. We have a world class underground operation with a 23 year mine life mining at 4MTpa.

 

About you

 

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • WHS Risk Management units required for Schedule 26 appointment.
  • Proven relevant operational experience at a senior level.
  • Proven experience in a relevant underground operational role, minimum 6 months experience as an underground ventilation engineer.
  • Experience using Deswik mine design packages or equivalent. 
  • Competent in Ventsim software.
  • Knowledge of mining practices, safety regulations, and environmental standards in Australia.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency in using mining software and other relevant tools for production planning and analysis.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.  
  • Have obtained a National Police Clearance within the last 6 months or have the ability to obtain one. 
  • Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screen.
