About the role

 

Liontown Resources is a pioneering force in Australia’s lithium mining industry, and we are looking for a Senior Work Health & Safety Advisor to join our Kathleen Valley lithium operation. This is a permanent opportunity working an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.

 

With our plant now fully commissioned, we have successfully transitioned into production and are six months into operations with a 20+ year mine life. Our Open Pit continues to operate through 2025 and at current rates is on track to be completed early in 2026. Meanwhile, our underground operations continue with decline and level development in line with plan. The team onsite remain on track to commence underground stoping in early production Q4 FY2025.

 

Reporting to our Work Health & Safety Superintendent, you will provide leadership and expertise in the implementation of workplace safety programs across our operations. You will work closely with site teams to drive a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations while implementing best-practice safety initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Safety Leadership: Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and embed best-practice health & safety processes across site.
  • Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to enhance workplace safety.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead and coordinate investigations into health and safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Training & Mentorship: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, mentoring junior safety personnel.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the operation remains compliant with all health & safety regulations, staying ahead of industry changes.

 

About you

 

  • 5-8 years of experience in health and safety roles, with a strong background in mining operations is highly desired.
  • Experience in process plant operations (mining, refinery, O&G will be considered) is a must for this role as this is where the focus will be, Underground or open pit mining exposure is an added advantage (highly regarded).
  • Proactively engage in safety/field observations, inspections and investigations
  • Strong leadership skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, INX and Safe Management System software
  • A formal qualification in Occupational Health & Safety. (Cert IV, Diploma)
  • Both ICAM and Lead Auditor qualifications (desirable)
  • Strong competency with safety compliance including but not limited to Auditing, Inspections, Performance Standards
  • Professional certifications in workplace health and safety (essential).
  • Extensive experience with regards to effective communications, consultation and conflict resolution
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and risk management principles.
  • Conduct safety investigations, prepare reports and recommendations, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional mining and operations teams.
  • Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical, National Police Clearance, and Drug and Alcohol screen.
