The opportunity
The Inventory Specialist is a newly created role based in our West Perth office, reporting initially to the Procurement Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded and analytical thinker who wants to be accountable for overall inventory accuracy and integrity, helping to optimise Liontown’s maintenance and production.
What you’ll be doing
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of inventory management activities within the Supply function. The role applies analytical and systems capability to manage stock data, support inventory reporting, drive process improvement, and ensure inventory practices are consistent with Liontown’s operational and commercial requirements. Based in the Perth office, this position partners closely with site-based warehousing, operations and maintenance teams and the procurement team in Perth to ensure inventory visibility and continuity across the supply chain.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages inventory master data, stock records (including reorder points, min/max levels, and material requirements planning category settings) and system configuration within Liontown’s ERP to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across the supply chain.
- Manages Material Requirements Planning processes, monitoring and actioning queues, advising on appropriate procurement strategies, and identifying opportunities to improve demand satisfaction rates and the costs of procuring and storing inventory.
- Monitors the completeness and accuracy of inventory master data and assists with data correction activities, working closely with master data owners.
- Manages the configuration, production and distribution of inventory-related reports.
- Develops and interprets inventory reports and dashboards, identifying trends, discrepancies, and risks, and provides recommendations to support supply decision-making.
- Coordinates and analyses cycle count results and stocktake activities, investigates variances, and ensures accurate reconciliation between physical stock and system records.
- Partners with site-based warehousing, operations and maintenance teams and the Perth-based procurement team to resolve inventory issues, align on demand requirements, and maintain supply continuity.
- Ensures inventory practices comply with Liontown’s policies, procedures, and internal controls, and supports audit activities and the ongoing development of inventory governance frameworks.
What we’re looking for
This role requires significant experience in inventory management. SAP S/4HANA experience would be advantageous although not a necessity. You will be an analytical thinker with strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and reporting. Strong systems proficiency and the ability to interpret and present data clearly for operational decision-making is important, as is being an effective communicator and able to engage in technical discussions with stakeholders. We are looking for:
- Proven experience in inventory management, ideally in an industry where inventory support of maintenance activities is operationally critical.
- Relevant experience working with inventory management systems, ideally SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory data analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-paced operational environment is desirable.
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline is desirable; equivalent experience will be considered
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Familiarity with inventory governance frameworks and internal control requirements is advantageous
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance and pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen.
