About the role

 

Liontown is seeking a passionate Principal Geologist to join our Technical Services team based in our West Perth office. This permanent opportunity involves Resource estimation and reporting for our Kathleen Valley operation as well as evaluating new acquisition opportunities that align with our long-term growth strategy.

 

This position demands strong technical expertise and a robust understanding of business strategy, with a particular emphasis on leveraging geological knowledge in lithium or related resources.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

Resource Geology

 

  • Recommendations, planning & management of ongoing resource definition work at Kathleen Valley & future Liontown projects.
  • Geology modelling in consultation with site geologists.
  • Resource estimation and reporting.  This incumbent will be the competent person for reporting of the Mineral Resource at Kathleen Valley & future Liontown projects.
  • Lead the Resource & Reserve Steering Committee to ensure good governance with external reporting.

 

Business Development and Project Assessment

 

  • Conduct due diligence on potential acquisition targets by evaluating geology, feasibility, and the value-adding potential for our portfolio.
  • Prepare due diligence and presentations for executive review, offering clear recommendations with respect to potential acquisitions or strategic partnerships.

About you

 

  • Degree in Geology or related field; advanced qualifications in Economic Geology advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource geology preferably with experience in both underground and open pit deposits.
  • Exposure to asset due diligence is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with lithium geology preferred; analogous minerals considered.
  • Ability to translate geological data into strategic insights for acquisition and development decisions.
  • Experience with geological modelling software (preferably Datamine, Leapfrog & Deswik) and other tools for 3D data analysis.
  • Strong presentation skills to communicate technical assessments to senior leadership.
  • Collaborative approach, able to work effectively across teams and with external consultants.
  • Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical, National Police Clearance, and Drug and Alcohol screen.
