The Opportunity
We're looking for a commercially sharp Senior Analyst - Capital to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team in Perth. Reporting to the Manager – Business Analysis, you'll put a financial lens over the trade-offs behind hundreds of millions in capital — from a major underground expansion through to the day-to-day sustaining capital that keeps Kathleen Valley running.
This is a newly created, standalone role that sits at the intersection of finance, projects and operations, with genuine autonomy to set the frameworks and standards that shape how we evaluate and deploy capital.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the financial evaluation of capital investment decisions across the project lifecycle — business cases, cost-benefit assessments, and decision frameworks
- Designing and leading optionality analysis, weighing trade-offs across scope, timing, cost, and risk
- Building and owning capital models, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and the modelling standards behind them
- Tracking cost performance across the expansion and sustaining capital programs and explaining the variances
- Delivering capital performance reporting that turns complex analysis into clear insight for senior leadership and governance forums
- Partnering with project, operations, commercial, and finance teams as the go-to person for capital analysis across the business
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline (required); progress towards or completion of CPA, CA, or CFA desirable
- Substantial experience in financial analysis, capital evaluation, or investment appraisal within a capital-intensive industry is essential
- A track record of advising senior stakeholders on complex investment decisions, with credibility across non-finance teams
- Strong capability in optionality analysis, scenario modelling, and cost performance reporting
- Advanced financial modelling skills and confident, independent judgement on ambiguous, non-routine problems
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP and cost management systems; familiarity with BI platforms or financial planning tools highly regarded
- A self-starter who works autonomously, thrives on variety, and takes initiative to solve problems in a fast-paced environment
